CT Scan

Computed Tomography Scan

A CT (computer tomography) Scan is an imaging test used by health care professionals to detect and diagnose diseases and injuries as well as develop a plan for medical, surgical, or radiation treatment. It combines a series of X-ray images taken from different angles to create detailed images of a patient’s bones, blood vessels, and soft tissues inside the body. A CT scan provides more-detailed information about a patient that typically X-rays. A CT scan is painless and noninvasive. It can be done at a hospital or an imaging center apart from a hospital.

According to the Mayo Clinic, a CT scan is particularly well-suited to quickly examine people with internal injuries from car accidents or other traumas.
