Gatekeeper

If you’re enrolled in an HMO or other managed care health plan, your Primary Care Physician (PCP) is often referred to as a gatekeeper. That’s because a PCP coordinates your access to specialists, other providers, lab and radiology services, hospitals, etc., except in emergency situations.
