A health care Good Faith Estimate (sometimes shorthanded as “GFE”) is a written estimate of expected charges for primary care and other services (such as lab or drugs) in connection with a scheduled or anticipated treatment. It can be provided to the insured, uninsured, or self-pay patients under the No Surprises Act. Your health care provider generally must provide a GFE before you receive services if you ask for one or if you schedule an appointment at least three days prior to treatment.
